Elevator Academy Was Opened

With the cooperation between the Ministry of Education and the Federation of Elevator Industrialists, Turkey's first elevator Academy was opened at Yenimahalle Şehit Mehmet Şengül Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Ankara. High technology workshops were established in the high school in order to enable students and teachers to carry out their application courses in real production environment. Turkey’s first Elevator Academy was established at Yenimahalle Şehit Mehmet Şengül Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Ankara. With the “Vocational Training Cooperation Protocol” signed bettween the Ministry of Education (MEB) General Directorate of Vocational and Technical Education and ASFED on 28th. March 2018, new technologies in elevator systems in Turkey moved to the Anatolian vocational and technical high schools for the very first time.

With the scope of the protocol, it was decided to establish a Lift Academy by ASFED due to the purpose of enabling teachers and students to perform training activities in the real production and technology environment at Yenimahalle Şehit Mehmet Şengül Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, Eskişehir Tepebaşı Devlet Malzeme Ofisi Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School and Kayseri Kocasinan Ayşe Baldöktü Vocational Training Centre.

With the support of Merih Elevator, AKE Elevator Systems and ARKEL, which are all operating depending on the Federation, the first Elevator Academy consisting of six workshops was established at Yenimahalle Şehit Mehmet Şengül Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. “Elevator Cabin and Floor-Door Assembly Workshop”, “Well Installation Workshop”, “Hydraulic-Pneumatic and PLC Workshop”, “AKE Escalator and Rail Systems Workshop”, “Control Panel and Electrical Systems Workshop” and a training room were created to enable students and teachers to do practical courses in real production environment at the Academy.

The opening of the Elevator Academy was held with the participation of Kemal Varın Numanoğlu, General Manager of MEB (Ministry of Education) Vocational and Technical Education, and sector representatives. 

Numanoğlu said that students and teachers' getting necessary qualifications by ensuring all schools to be capable of catching the pace of development of the sector will be one of the important steps towards achieving the goals set in line with the 2023 Education Vision.

Saying that ASFED Board of Diretors and the related companies provided all kinds of financial and moral support without limiting their support for education on the establishment of the Academy, Numanoğlu stated that cooperation with the sector in vocational education will increasingly continue.
