Construction materials industry exports declined due to Covid-19

Building Materials Industry IMSAD prepared by Turkey according to the Foreign Trade Index results for April; The building materials industry felt the negative effects of the Covid-19 outbreak. The sector's exports fell to $ 1.35 billion in April 2020. There was a limited decrease in the amount. This limited decline showed that the export effort of the sector continued in April.

Turkey IMSAD Building Materials Industry Foreign Trade Index results were announced in April 2020. With the effect of the Covid-19 outbreak in the building materials industry foreign trade, there were the most severe monthly decreases since August 2013, when the index was measured. Exports of building materials industry decreased by 25.8 percent in April 2020 compared to April last year. Exports, which was 1.81 billion dollars in April 2019, decreased to 1.35 billion dollars in April 2020 due to the negative impact of the global epidemic.

Exports of building materials industry decreased by 13.4 percent in April compared to April last year. The limited decline in quantity showed that the export effort of the sector continued in April. Exports of building materials were 3.98 million tons in April 2020. The average unit price of construction materials exports was $ 0.39 / kg in April 2019, while it was $ 0.34 / kg in April 2020. The adverse conditions in export markets and the sharp contraction in exports have not yet been reflected in average export unit prices.
