The 1st International exhibition & conference on the elevators, escalators and components industry was successfully held from 27-29th August 2019 at Sandton Convention Center, South African. The expo was inaugurated by the Minister T.T Nxesi , Department of Employment and Labor along with Counsel General of India Mr. Anuj Gupta and Mr. Lexiang Zhang, Secretary General, China Elevator Association. This dedicated event was conceptualized to create a platform for the global vertical transportation industry to showcase latest products & technology and share knowledge with the buyers and influencers of African continent under one roof.

Minister Nxesi in his opening address emphasized on the need to enhance manufacturing in South Africa for this sector and urged the industry to give utmost importance to the safety of products and people. Ms Tasneem Motara addressed the audience and spent lot of time understanding the industry, its players and technology at display. She promised to be a part of this initiative on a continues basis to make sure the industry and government work hand in hand . Mr. Lexiang, said Africa is an important continent for the Chinese players and South Africa can be the gateway for the African continent. The event concluded on a high note and it effectively met its objective of bringing the attention of global players to the African continent and exposing its potential for this industry. The 60+ participants from 9 countries returned with quality leads and business prospects. The expo attracted closed to 1400 quality visitor from across South Africa, Portugal, Kenya, Botswana, Angola, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Lesotho, Italy, Austria, Australia, Turkey, India, Germany, China and many other countries from around the world. Majority of the visitors came souring for Elevators, Escalators & components and they were looking for business tieups. The attendance and support received from the senior officials from various government departments like PWD, DID and DEL was well appreciated by the industry. Gleexpo established a bridge connecting regulatory authorities, industry players and the property owners/buyers. The expo also created an apt platform to share knowledge through the presentations and panel discussions. All stakeholders enthusiastically participated in these sessions and got an opportunity to hear from industry leaders and experts. GLE EXPO 2019 AFRICA laid a strong foundation for the industry to showcase itself and grow. All participants benefited immensely and expressed their gratitude.
